Citizenship in Action (CIA)

Registration for the 2019 Citizenship In Action is now open for youth who are who are 13-18 years old as of January 1, 2019 (prior 4-H membership is not required to attend). Additional information about this event can be found by clicking here or by going to www.kansas4h.org, click on Events and Activities, Conferences and Events and then Citizenship In Action.

The Kansas 4-H Youth Leadership Council is busy planning for Citizenship in Action (CIA), which will be on February 17,and 18 in Topeka. Hotel accommodations will be at the Capitol Plaza Hotel next to the Kansas Expo Center. Housing costs are included in the $175 registration fee and rooms will be assigned. We will be offering youth the opportunity to have their own bed while they are at Citizenship In Action. This will be an additional $40 and youth will have the opportunity when they register to select this option. ADULTS: There will NOT be an additional fee for you to have your own bed, we will continue housing adults as we have done in the past and you will have your own bed. If you would like to have your own bedroom and not share a room, please email Sarah Keatley (keatley@ksu.edu) to make those arrangements. If you have youth who want to room together, they must BOTH select the option to have their own bed or they must BOTH not select to have their own beds.

Citizenship in Action is an opportunity for youth to learn about the legislative process, and for legislators to see the positive impacts of 4-H. By encouraging involvement of 4-H members and government officials, the Youth Council hopes to develop a platform for communication between 4-H members and law-makers. Delegates should also be prepared to discuss issues and topics when they meet with their senators and representatives.
