Gavel Games and 4-H Showcase

Registration for Gavel Games and 4-H Showcase is now open. Gavel Games and 4-H Showcase will be held Saturday, February 23 at Riley County High School. Registration closes February 11. Look for registration on our website www.riley.ksu.edu under Events.
A schedule will be send to all 4-H families after registration closes. If you have a conflict (i.e. Bobby has another event Saturday morning and his Gavel Game team need to go early), please let us know when you register! If you have conflicts after the schedule comes out it will be your responsibility to find an individual/group to trade times with.
Gavel Games will be held first, followed by 4-H Showcase. All guidelines and requirements for both Gavel Games and 4-H Showcase can be found here Gavel Games and 4-H Showcase Guidelines. There are also guides and videos to help your prepare your project talks, demonstrations and illustrated talks.
Horticulture Judging and Photography judging will be from 9-noon. No previous experience is necessary. If you participate in Horticulture or Photography judging at 4-H Showcase, you can have it count as one of your items on your Achievement Pin application.

Local and State Scholarships Available

State and local scholarships are now available at https://www.riley.k-state.edu/4-h/forms-resources/scholarships/index.html. All state and local scholarships need to be turned in to the Riley County Extension office by 5 pm on Friday, February 1. If you have questions about filling out the applications, please do not hesitate to call John or Brandy at the Riley County Extension office for assistance 785-537-6350.

2018-2019 4-H Enrollment and Re-Enrollment

Please be sure to re-enroll for the 4-H year via 4-H Online  The enrollment deadline is May 1, but getting as soon as possible is very helpful for the club and county.  If you are unsure of your enrollment status or need help contact a leader.  If you have forgotten your email log in or password, please DO NOT create a second account. Instead, contact Brandy bmberg@ksu.edu or call 785-537-6350 and she can assist you. The deadline to enroll and change projects will be May 1.

Riley County Fair Theme Contest

All 4-H members are invited to submit entries for the fair theme contest! Entries must be easy to incorporate into a float, banner and other promotional products; not be specific to 4-H and attract all types of visitors to the fair. Submit your theme words and artwork (optional) by March 1 to jajobe@ksu.edu or by bringing them to the Extension Office. 4-H Council and Fair Board will both vote on the entries.

4-H Camp

Campers – Riley County is extremely excited to announce camp dates for 2019. ‘Purple Power Pack’ will camp from Saturday, June 8 – Tuesday, June 11, with counselor training Friday, June 7. Summer camp at Rock Springs offers youth 2nd through 7th grade (coming out of) a unique camping experience filled with endless fun and engaging activities. 4-Hers are encouraged to bring their friends and help spread the word about the 4-H Camp 2019. Further details, including camping fees will be provided to campers and parents when registration officially opens in March.
Counselors – Do you have what it takes to become a camp counselor? Camp counselors are the backbone of the summer camping experience and must be willing to take on the challenge of working with a co-counselor to get 8 youth to and from different activity locations. If this sounds like you, please apply to become a Purple Power Pack camp counselor for 4-H summer camp 2018, June 8–11, with counselor training Friday, June 7. Applications will post in March.
