NE Area 4-H Leadership Event (NELE) Information

Come see what leadership is like Sky High! 4-H members ages 12-18 are invited to the NE Area 4-H Leadership Event (NELE), Saturday, January 19, 2019, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in Heritage Hall at Rock Spring 4-H Center!

The $30 registration includes lunch, snack and a t-shirt. Youth delegates can sign up for multiple classes. There is a track of sessions for all adults who attend. Registration closes January 3.Register here!

Tying into Leadership

You never need to know how to tie a knot until you need it in a pinch. You don’t need to know anything about leadership until you work with others. Come to “Tying Into Leadership” to learn about both. We will incorporate rope knots into leadership qualities and techniques to help us remember both, so come for fun and learning!

Fly Into Ukraine

Fly with us to Ukraine as we take a look into their culture! Learn about what it’s like being a host sibling and how different life is in Ukraine when compared to America. Explore Ukrainian culture through different activities and feel free to ask any questions about Ukraine.

Fly High In Your Interview

Learn how to soar through an interview! We will discuss how to dress and tips on making a strong first impression that will carry through the whole interview.  This is a great class for everyone to take, as we will all have to go through an interview at some point.

Record Book Madness

Come learn how to put together a fantastic record book from the parent of a Kansas State Project winner.  Learn tips about keeping records through the year and filling in KAP’s.  Anyone who finds themselves stressed out during record book season should consider this class to help calm the madness.

Fly Into Youth Council

Ever wanted to know what those people in the purple polos actually do? Or how to become one?  Fly Into Youth Council informs you of what the Kansas 4-H Youth Leadership Council is all about, along with tips on acing your application and interview to cruising through your elections speech!

Line Dancing

Learn how to lead the dance floor in a line dance!  Come learn step-by-step popular line dances to use at the next state event!

Leadership Challenge Games

Learn how to lead team building activities for a small group of people and how to facilitate conversations.  Join us for our top 5 games for small groups

48 Hours of 4-H

What’s 48 Hours of 4-H? Come to this class and find out how you can be a part of YOUR community.  We will be going over the meaning and history behind 484H. We will learn the steps it takes to develop a 484H project and how to register and report to the Youth Leadership Council.

Kansas Critters

Are you interested in learning more about the natural word around you?  Come to “Kansas Critters” to do just that! We will discuss mammal species that can be found all over the state of Kansas.

Crop and Weed ID

Want to win the next crop and weed identification contest at your fair?  Sign up for this class to learn about some specimens of crops, common weeds, and noxious weeds that you might see at your next fair and other opportunities there are in crop and weed ID such as judging while in college.  There are many different types of crops and weeds across Kansas, all with names that they can be identified by. Learn how to identify some common and noxious weeds of Kansas in this class.

Have you ever wanted to participate hands-on with rockets?  Sign-up for 3, 2, 1 Blastoff to have several hands-on activities including, but not limited to: straw rockets, fizzy rockets and paper rockets! Come learn how you can get involved in the SpaceTech action team!

Connecting with Generation iY – ADULT SESSION: Join us to learn the secrets to connecting with today’s teens and young adults.  We will use Tim Elmore’s book, Generation iY, as our resource.

Engaging Youth Part 1 – ADULT SESSION: Come explore how you can build quality opportunities for youth learning within your 4-H environments.  Discover the different resources to aid in planning and teaching projects.

Engaging Youth Part 2 – ADULT SESSION: Capitalizing on youth and adult partnerships as a tool to increase engagement for older and younger club members.  Application of project resources will be explored as tools to facilitate purposeful teaching.
